Friends, Colleagues, Commentators Reflecting and Tapping Into His Energy and Passion

TORONTO – A response to the inspiration and the optimism that Jack Layton gave us all – that’s in short what the new book “Hope is Better Than Fear” is.

Canadians across the country were  saddened by the sudden passing away of the NDP’s leader. The affectionate way in which ordinary citizens reacted and showed admiration for what he stood for was an extraordinary moment in our nation’s history. It was a mixing of grief with optimism; many people found themselves asking how they could best meet the challenge he had set.

This collection of contributions from numerous people that accompanied and worked with Jack carries on the relentless optimism that Jack Layton brought to his work as an activist, city councillor and federal politician. It seeks to honour a life of public service by responding to Jack’s extraordinary example and asks us all to think of ways in which we can continue his legacy.

The book has been published in an electronic version by Random House Canada.
